Calm reflection vis a vis brute violence

Oh, spine chilling and blood curdling murders.
Among the victims, a child, rather, a toddler,
With one eye out of the socket,
Perhaps, being struck on the head
With something blunt-a barbaric action.
Two naked women, their bodies bullet-sprayed
And bearing choking signs of defilement--

A crime that makes the devil smile gloatingly
But makes your blood boil beyond endurance.
Even so, a sinister bait it is to tempt you
And trap you into the dark jungle of emotions--
Emotions so fierce as to make you cry out,
'An eye for an eye, an eye for an eye'.
And if you fall for their tempting bait,

A mischievous smile will come to their faces,
Seeing that you are caught in their trap.
And then you are to become a spoke
Of the wheel of violence turning very fast.
This wheel, they don't want it to stop turning.
For what reason? In order to perpetuate
The vicious circle of violence consuming

A lot of innocent lives across communities--
A violence theirs to gain and yours to lose.
But this much is very much crystal clear,
The moment calm reflection dyes your mind,
And you snub their tempting invite to wallow
In the blood-drenched murky pool of violence,
The wheel of violence will stop its turning,
Paving the way for peace to make a return
Like the soft sunshine after a fierce storm.
