PWF extends Rs 1.40 lakh medical aid to scribes

IMPHAL, May 23 : The Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF), a trust of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), has disbursed Rs 1.40 lakh under its Medical Financial Assistance scheme for Phase II of 2025-26, covering treatment costs incurred between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.
As per a release issued by PWF, seven journalists received aid after scrutiny by the Medical Board headed by Dr Kh Palin of Shija Hospital and Dr Kh Lokeshwor Singh of JNIMS.
The distribution was held on Saturday at Manipur Press Club in the presence of PWF chairperson N Tombiraj, AMWJU president Asem Bhakta, and secretary Borun Thokchom.  
Senior journalist Salam Bharat Bhusan received Rs 50,000 for prostate carcinoma treatment. Others assisted include Ningthoujam Amuba, ISTV, Rs 25,000; Angom Ranjit Singh, Poknapham, Rs 20,000; Koijam Suraj, Pandam, Rs 10,000; Yen-drembam Herojit, Akhoigi- Panthung, Rs 10,000; Khu-manthem Dhanachandra, Imphal Times, Rs 10,000; and Jimmy Leivon, The Indian Express, Rs 15,000.  
PWF also invited applications for MFA 2026-27 Phase I for expenses from April 1 to September 30, 2026. Eligible AMWJU members may apply with supporting documents at the Manipur Press Club.
