Stage set for semis of 48th Junior State Boys and Girls’ Handball Tournament

IMPHAL, May 23 : The semi-final line up of the 48th Junior State Boys and Girls’ Handball Tournament 2026 hosted by KVWA, Mayang Imphal under the aegis of the Manipur Handball Association have been completed today with the conclusion of the league round.
KVWA, Mayang Imphal will play SSC, Khurai in the first semi-final match of the boys tournament tomorrow from 7 am onwards before YLK, Chingarel Tejpur play OYO, Kongpal in the other semi-final match.
In the girls tournament, YLK, Chingarel Tejpur will play SSC in a semi-final clash before KVWA, Mayang Imphal meet OYO, Kongpal for the remaining final berth.
In the last league match of the girls tournament staged today, hosts KVWA prevailed 22-12 as Jinybala scored 7 goals alone and Jennymax and Bidyalaxmi contributed 4 goals apiece. Thoicha and Devarani also netted 3 and 2 goals respectively for the team as Jandabi and Lingjelthoibi added a goal apiece.
For SSC, Taibangsatpi scored thrice as Pinky, Kajal, and Robia scored two goals apiece. Velentina, Sinthoi and Veronika also contributed a goal apiece in a lost cause.
Meanwhile in the final league match of the boys’ competition, SSC thumped NSU 15-12 despite Richard scoring the match’s highest 8 goals.
Zidane and Raju led the scoring for SSC adding 5 goals apiece while Basker and Chingkheinganba scored 3 and 2 goals respectively.
Elist (2), Alpha (1) and Ronaldo (1) also chipped in four goals for NSU today.
