IMPHAL, May 23: The Government of India has not honoured the faith people had placed in it to protect Manipur, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) said convenor YK Dhiren today.
He said this while speaking at two protest demonstrations organised at Kameng and Sekmai in Imphal West.
The protest demonstration at Kameng was organised by Nongchup Kameng Nupi Samaj Meira Paibi at the Kameng Community Hall. The protest at Sekmai was organised by COCOMI Awang Sekmai Branch at Awang Sekmai SC Development Committee hall.
Speaking at the protest demonstrations, YK Dhiren said the Government of India has failed to hear the aspirations of the people and protect Manipur and its people against narco-terrorist aggression. The Government of India has not honoured the faith people had placed in it to protect Manipur, he said. He further denounced Assam Rifles' failure as a border guarding force in Manipur. The Assam Rifles, he said, has failed to prevent infiltration by Myanmar based Kuki militants.
The Assam Rifles forces even remained mute spectators when Indian border villages in Kamjong district were attacked recently, he added. In the face of the current onslaught of Kuki narco-terrorists, the indigenous communities must unite and take a firm resolution, he said. For Manipur to return to normalcy and peace, the Government of India must stop its proxy army and crack down on Kuki militants, Dhiren added.
