IMPHAL, May 23: The Tahamzam Youth Forum (TYF) has endorsed the ultimatum issued by the Naga Village Guard – Northern Command (NVG-NC) concerning the continued illegal detention and concealment of the six Naga civilians abducted on May 13, 2026 by the Kuki narco-terrorist group, KNF-P.
A press release issued by TYF said that he Naga people view the sudden emergence of appeal for “peace,” “brotherhood,” “humanity,” and “Christian values” from the very circles that remained silent when innocent Naga civilians were frequently intimidated and abducted, and families were left in anguish with deep concern and irony.
“While publicly appealing for peace and brotherhood, why were your refugee militants reportedly carrying out armed attacks on innocent Naga farmers at Pongringlong (Charoi Pandongba) near Tupul, Noney, around 2:20 pm. on May 22, 2026? Also, why did Kuki refugee militants reportedly open indiscriminate fire from nearby Mongkot Chephu village, targeting an innocent Sharkapung villager? Such actions once again expose the dangerous contradiction between public statements and the realities on the ground”, it said. The Naga people firmly believe that the stand taken by the Naga Village Guard – Northern Command (NVG-NC)—including the decision to transfer the detainees to the Naga Village Guard – Western Command (NVG-WC), Tamenglong, in the event of continued refusal to release the six Naga hostages is justified under the prevailing circumstances and reflects the growing sentiments of the Naga public, it said. The TYF said that every organization and leader claiming to represent the Naga people must stand firmly with truth, justice, dignity, and the collective will of the people at this decisive hour.
History will remember who stood with the people and who chose silence, compromise, or convenience when the Naga people needed clarity, courage, and conviction the most.
“The future and collective interests of the Naga people must never be compromised through weak leadership, selective silence, external pressure, or decisions detached from ground realities and public sentiments,” the release mentioned.
It cautioned that it is not the moment for selective neutrality, misplaced emotional appeals, or superficial moral posturing while six innocent Naga civilians still remain unaccounted for. The sentiments, pain, anger, and dignity of the Naga people cannot continue to be ignored or suppressed, it added.
