16th AMFA Senior Women’s Football League YWC-L, YWC-Th post emphatic wins in Super League Round

IMPHAL, May 24 : Young Welfare Club, Langthabal (YWC-L) and Youth Welfare Club, Thambalkhong (YWC-Th) notched up comprehensive wins in their opening matches of the Super League Round of the 16th AMFA Senior Women’s Football League.
YWC-Th overwhelmed FC Imphal by 5-1 goals in the first match of the 4-team Super League round of the tournament this morning at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Senjam Alva Devi took centrestage in this lopsided encounter by scoring thrice (67’, 71’, 80’) after FC Imphal enjoyed a narrow 1-0 lead in the first half courtesy of Chingkhamayum Redima’s 8th minute strike. Heikham Zenia (77’) and Leikangbam Russia (90+3’) were also on target for YWC-Th.
In the second match of the day staged at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, Wairokpam Daina scored a treble (7’, 26’, 69’) while Maibam Nandeshwori scored twice (44’, 45+1’) to seal a huge 6-0 win for YWC-L against Eastern Sporting Union (ESU). Loukrakpam Seityamala (32’) also contributed a goal to help YWC-L rout ESU 6-0.
FC Imphal will play ESU in the next match on May 27 from 1 pm at Artificial Turf Ground before YWC-Th take on YWC-L later in the day from 3.30 pm.
