IMPHAL, May 24: North East Dialogue Forum has urged all concerned parties, including State and non-State armed groups, to immediately end all acts of violence and crimes against civilians, women, and children, and to commit themselves to peace, accountability, and the protection of human dignity.
In a statement, the forum said the Prime Minister and the Government of India should invite relevant United Nations Special Procedures, including: the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights, the Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, and other relevant UN human rights mechanisms, to independently asses the situation in Manipur.
Further the National Security Adviser and all authorities of the Government of India and the State of Manipur should immediately review the reported incidents of extrajudicial executions and violations of the Geneva Conventions Act, 1960, as well as India's obligations under the Fourth Geneva Convention and International Humanitarian Law, it added.
