KAKCHING, May 25: Demanding the revocation of the transfer order of the Principal of Kakching Higher Secondary School, students of the school along with parents and guardians staged a sit-in protest demonstration at the school gate today.
The students warned that if the transfer order of Principal Naorem Nomita is not revoked by the Directorate of Education (S), within 24 hours, the agitation would be intensified further.
Notably, the students of Kakching Hr Sec School have been boycotting classes since May 22 in protest against the transfer order. They also locked the offices of the administrative block and the principal’s office as part of the agitation.
During the protest demonstration, students raised slogans demanding immediate revocation of the transfer order and also declared that the newly transferred principal should not be allowed to enter the school premises.
Speaking in connection with the protest, Students’ Union Magazine Secretary M Googal stated that apart from boycotting classes, students had also submitted written memorandums to various authorities, including the Chief Minister, seeking cancellation of the transfer order.
He alleged that despite repeated appeals, no action has been taken so far to revoke the order. He further warned that if the transfer order is not cancelled within 24 hours, students would intensify their agitation and continue to oppose the entry of the newly transferred principal into the school.
