IMPHAL, May 30 : Newly appointed Director General of Police, Mukesh Singh, has arrived in Imphal and is set to take charge as the head of the State police force on June 1.
Mukesh was received by senior police officers at the Imphal International Airport after he landed from New Delhi.
An order issued today said Mukesh Singh will take charge as the Director General of Police, Manipur and Head of Police Force with effect from June 1.
He will replace Rajiv Singh, a 1993-batch IPS officer, who took charge as DGP in June 2023, about a month after violent conflict erupted in Manipur. Rajiv Singh has been transferred by the Centre to serve as the Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat in New Delhi.
Mukesh Singh is a 1996 batch IPS officer.
He has been transferred and posted to Manipur on inter-cadre deputation from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre for a period of three years.
Mukesh previously served as the Police Chief in Ladakh. An IIT Delhi graduate in Civil Engineering, he has extensive experience in counter-insurgency and anti-terror operations. He earlier served with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and was involved in operations related to militancy and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
With the appointment of the new Police Chief, the Government has reshuffled several officers.
Ashutosh Kumar Sinha (IPS), ADGP/Intelligence (1993 batch), Director of Inquiry & OSD, Manipur Bhavan, Delhi and in-charge of MD/MPHC Ltd, has been transferred and posted as the Chairman & Managing Director/MANIDCO and Director of Inquiry, Manipur Lokayukta.
Lupheng Kailun (IPS), ADGP (L&O) (1994 batch) has been transferred and posted as MD/MPHC Ltd.
Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo (IPS), ADGP (AP/Modernization) has been given additional charge of ADGP Intelligence and Law and Order.
In a separate order, Ngangbam Roman Singh (MFS), in-charge of Managing Director/MANIDCO, CFO (Trade, Commerce & Industries) & FO/MFICL has been posted as CFO (Trade, Commerce & Industries), FO/MFICL and Additional Managing Director/MANIDCO.
