IMPHAL, May 31 : Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand was today sworn in as the new president of the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) at Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham, next to 1st Manipur Rifles complex.
After taking oath in front of the Lainingthou Sanamahi and Ema Leimarel Sidabi temple, the Chief Minister went inside ‘Sanagi Sangai’ and took a look at the articles, documents and other artefacts kept there which are related to the origin of Sanamahi faith.
Later, Khemchand held a meeting of LSBT together with newly elected members of the board who were sworn in on May 11.
Presidents of 10 departments of LSBT presented gifts to Y Khemchand.
Khemchand called upon all members of the board to work truthfully and look into the requirements of the temple complex collectively.
Saying that every community across the world has their own culture and faith, the LSTB president said that a community/society can progress only when its members uphold their culture and faith.
Khemchand also pledged that he would work at his best level to promote Sanamahi faith.
