IDPs meet CM

IMPHAL, May 30: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has given assurance to meet IDPs' demands and expedite resettlement process, said Moirangthem Somendro, executive member of Meetei Council Moreh. After meeting the CM, speaking to reporters at the alternate housing complex at Langol, Somendro said he raised several issues facing IDPs during the meeting and urged for the Government swift actions to address them. He said the IDPs have been urging the Government to release the remaining pending amount of interim financial assistance, increase daily allowance, provide financial aid of Rs 1 lakh to cancer and kidney patients and ex-gratia to families of missing persons. Somendro said the Chief Minister has assured to address the demands and, in addition, has offered to award meritorious displaced students who have cleared Class X and XII examinations.
