IMPHAL, May 30: The Chairman and members of the Commission of Enquiry (Manipur Violence), 2023 are currently on a visit to the State.
The team comprising Justice (retd) BS Chauhan, Chairman of the commission and its two members, IAS (retd) Himanshu Sekhar Das and IPS (retd) Aloka Prabhakar landed at Imphal on May 29 and they will leave the State tomorrow.
The team met Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand this morning and briefed him about their visit.
Earlier, the team visited relief camps of IDPs in Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal West and Imphal East districts, according to a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Another press release issued by DIO Churachandpur added that the team visited the prefabricated relief camp at Torbung, Churachandpur district today.
The team interacted with inmates of the relief camp, hearing first-hand accounts of displacement, hardship and concerns arising from the violence.
The visiting panel included two other members of the commission, along with Secretary to the Commission Mohan Lal Meena, and Commissioner (Home) Ashok Kumar.
Key district officials present during the visit included Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, Additional Deputy Commissioner Seiminthang Lenthang, SDO Churachandpur Anunay Anand, SDO Kangvai Th Mangminthang Gangte, and SDO Tuibong Jangminlen Lupho.
