SENAPATI, May 31: The United Naga Council has strongly condemned ambush on civilians today and the excavation of National Highway 202 at Shangkai village by "Kuki militants and their villagers" which has cut off essential supplies of food, medicine, fuel and all goods to Ukhrul and adjoining Naga areas. The UNC, in a statement, said it strongly condemns the attack on three Konsa-khul villagers today which injured one of them. Destroying highways and attacking civilians maintaining essential services are crimes against the society and such actions cannot be normalized, it said, calling on the Government of India to immediately investigate, prosecute those responsible. It urged the Government to restore NH-202 urgently and "ensure impartial enforcement of law so that public infrastructure is not held hostage by any armed group." The State Government must be held accountable. It must uphold the Constitution and exercise  its duties, said the UNC.
