‘Grenades’ brought for sale

IMPHAL, Jun 9 : In a bizarre and unprecedented incident, a large number of defused hand grenades were brought for sale to a scrap dealer.
Three women came in a diesel auto-rickshaw to a scrap dealer located at Chingamakha Phurama-khong with an offer to sell scrap metals at around 8 am today.
The women brought along a sack weighing around 20 Kgs.
On opening the sack, around 60 pieces of hand grenades cut into halves, with detonators and gunpowder removed were found inside, sources said. A team from Singjamei police station came and inspected the incapacitated hand grenades. A team of Manipur Forensic Science too inspected the incapacitated explosives.
The police team seized the incapacitated grenades and arrested the three women who were identified as Hajara Bibi (60), Ibem (38) and Imem (50).
