IMPHAL, Jun 9 : Rev H Kaba Maram, president of Council of Naga Baptist Associations Manipur (CONBAM), has appreciated the United Naga Council (UNC) for releasing the fourteen Kuki detainees.
In a statement, he said that the noble act reflects the very essence of the Christian faith, which calls believers to demonstrate mercy, compassion and forgiveness even in the midst of pain and conflict.
"Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us that true strength is found not in retaliation but in extending grace and seeking peace," he added.
By choosing the path of forgiveness, he said UNC has exemplified Christian principles in a remarkable manner.
"Your action sends a powerful message to the wider world that the Naga people are not terrorists but a people who value human dignity, justice and peaceful coexistence," he said.
He further said that the gesture of UNC stands as a testimony to the peace-loving character of the Nagas at a time when communities are often divided by fear and mistrust.
Indeed, it takes great courage and strength to forgive, he said and added that the decision to release the detainees demonstrates moral leadership and spiritual maturity.
It reveals that genuine strength is not expressed through vengeance but through the willingness to pursue reconciliation and the restoration of humanity, he added.
This good deed will inspire many to work toward peace, mutual understanding and healing among all communities, he said.
