CM takes case of 2 NHs to Gadkari

IMPHAL, Jun 10: Chief Minister Yumnam Khem-chand Singh called on Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari at his official residence in New Delhi today.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed the Union Minister on steps being taken up by the State Government to resolve the long pending issues concerning Imphal-Jiribam Highway and Im- phal-Dimapur Highway, said the Chief Minister's Secretariat in a statement.
While they discussed various issues facing the highway projects, Khemchand requested Gadkari for an early sanction of the Elevated Highway project.
The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways gave a positive response to the request.
With regard to National Highway 37 (Imphal-Jiribam Road), the Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that a revised survey has been completed and compensation for affected landowners in Noney district has been approved by the State Cabinet. The work, he informed, has started.
On the Imphal-Dimapur Highway, Khemchand told the Union Minister that issues related to Kangpokpi district have been resolved and a special package has been approved by the State Cabinet.
The Chief Minister further informed Gadkari that land issues still persist for the Imphal-Ukhrul-Jessami Highway. The State Government is engaging with the stakeholders for early resolution, he said.
