4th MNCA Men’s U19 One Day Trophy CYCLONE, AKSDO post third wins to boost knock-out round hopes

IMPHAL, Jun 10 : CYCLONE, Thangmeiband and AKSDO, Khangabok registered their third league stage wins  to keep their knock-out round hopes alive in the ongoing 4th MNCA Men’s U19 One Day Trophy.
At Moijing Public Ground, CYCLONE beat Model Club by 8 runs to seal their third win in five matches that included an abandoned match.
Asked to bat first, CYCLONE were dismantled for 147 runs in 39.5 overs but they successfully defended their total by bowling out Model Club for 139 runs in 28.5 overs.
Binson Laithangbam scored a slow 100-ball 53 in the dismal CYCLONE innings that saw Ashem Bobby (3/22 in 8 overs), Bisal Ningombam (2/28) and Biyon Naorem (2/33) sharing 7 crucial wickets for Model Club.
In reply, Bisal did his best to lift the team with a quickfire 56 off 34 balls studded with 6 fours and 4 sixes but his effort went in vain as Maibam Napolian (3/34), Mairembam Malemnganba (3/25) and Binson Laithangbam (2/29) overhauled their bowling performances to set up the collapse at 139.
Binson who shone with both the bat and the ball was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, AKSDO beat AMCA by 2 runs for the third Group E win  in four matches that included an abandoned match.
AKSDO were dismissed for 118 runs in 22.2 overs with AMCA’s Maibam Zakir Hussain (3/8), MM Yakin (2/22) and Maibam Anish (2/17) wreaking havoc.
AMCA however found the target too big as they were bundled out for 116 runs in 37.1 overs as Bidyananda Ningthoujam enjoyed a four wicket haul (4/16) and Punshiba Akoijam (2/17) picked two wickets to keep things tight.
Bidyananda of AKSDO was eventually named man of the match.
In another Group E match staged at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, PTCC, Patsoi Part III beat SSC, Porompat by 7 wickets via VJD/other method.
In a dead rubber Group B match staged at Khudeiband Lampak, SU beat Blue Hawk by 92 runs.
