IMPHAL, Jun 10 : Demanding justice for the six Naga civilians who were abducted by Kuki groups and later found dead, the United Naga Council (UNC) has announced a 24-hour shutdown across Naga-inhabited areas beginning at 6 am on June 11.
In a statement, the UNC said that the mortal remains will not be received until justice is delivered.
The prayerful expectation of the Naga people following the release of the 14 Kuki detainees yesterday was met with the shocking fact that the six Naga individuals taken hostage by Leilon Vaiphei villagers and KNF (P) militants on May 13, 2026, have been recovered in highly mutilated and dismembered conditions, the Naga Council said.
This is unacceptable and constitutes a gross violation of human rights and disrespect for human dignity, it added.
Condemning the 'satanic act', the UNC urged the Government to abrogate the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with all Kuki militant groups, declare Kuki National Front -president group (KNF-P) as a terrorist organisation and immediate arrest and prosecution of all KNF-P cadres and Leilon Vaiphei village chief Lalboi Vaipei and all other individuals involved in the abduction of 18 Naga civilians including two Pastors from Leilon Vaiphei on May 13 and the subsequent cold blooded murder of six of them. It also demanded justice for Wilson Thanga Chiru who was killed in an ambush at Joujangtek on May 13.
Moreover, the UNC demanded immediate removal of Nemcha Kipgen from the position of Deputy Chief Minister.
Nemcha is the wife of KNF-P president Senminthang alias Thangboi  Kipgen  who is complicit in the murder of the Naga civilians, it said.
Her (Nemcha) continuation in the office will amount to wilful compromise of the integrity of internal security concerns of both the State and the Nation at large, UNC added.
Meanwhile, the UNC expressed its 'heartfelt' sympathies to the bereaved families  during this hour of profound grief and loss. The UNC added that the tragedy has caused immense pain to the families and to the Naga people at large.
"It has shaken the faith of citizens in the Government's ability to ensure the safety and security of innocent civilians. We consider this as a direct challenge to the collective identity and security of Naga people", the UNC said.
