65th CC Meet SDC seal 2-1 win against RAU, finish Group G winners

IMPHAL, Jun 10 : Social Development Club (SDC), Samurou fought from a goal down to beat Rising Athletic Union (RAU), Lairikyengbam Leikai 2-1 and finish Group G winners in the 65th CC Meet at Mapal Kangjeibung this evening.
RAU enjoyed a 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to Lamjingba Nongthombam but Laishram Phalguni put SDC back into the game by netting the equaliser in the 65th minute before Longjam Sheitam, who subbed in for Hidam Abungsana, hit the winner in the 86th minute.
Earlier in a Group B match, Imphal Youth Football Club (IYFC) beat USA by 3-1 goals. They made 1-2 finish in the league competition with two wins and eventually qualified for the pre-quarterfinals.
Yumlembam Sanajaoba scored twice (34’, 81’) and P Sorormi Thingsang (67’) were on target in IYFC’s victory after Thoudam Pravash broke the deadlock for USA in the 22nd minute.
In a Group E match staged in the second ground, Sagolband United beat KNK FC 1-0 thanks to RL Shednam last minute winner and secured runners up spot to qualify for the pre-quarterfinals.
