IMPHAL, Jun 10 :  The proscribed PREPAK has come down heavily on CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap (GP) Singh’s statement on ending insurgency in Manipur.
The particular statement of the CRPF DG reflected his intention to suppress the insurgency of Manipur with military strength rather than resolving it through political dialogue, the outfit remarked.
GP Singh stated, “CRPF personnel need not worry about opening fire at miscreants if the miscreants move around with arms.  I have your back. Till the time I am here, no need to worry about any (legal) action”.
“If you do not fire at miscreants, why has the government given us so much arms and ammunition.
““There are two scenarios here. One is the armed miscreants, some of them are active militant groups, or with surrendered militant groups, all of them have weapons. They are misusing the weapons to vitiate the situation in Manipur. The second is the law-and-order issue, which is connected to the armed miscreants. The crowd provides cover to these armed groups so that they can create tensions,” GP Singh said.
The CRPF DG did not mention anything about putting an end to the violence besieging Manipur since May 3, 2023 and resettlement of displaced people, the outfit’s Charge-De-Affairs, Publicity and Propaganda LeibaakNgaak-pa Luwang remarked.
It looked like GP Singh was talking about bringing an end to all forms of violence in Manipur but if one studies the past strategies and activities of India, it is most likely that the new strategy will be limited to suppressing the liberation movement while protecting  the mercenaries who are being used in the proxy war on the pretext of SoO agreement, the outfit said.
Pointing out that the CRPF’s track record in Manipur is nothing to be appreciated, the outfit said that the arrival of COBRA Battalion will only aggravate  persecution and repression of the people.
It called upon the people to be wary and prepared to face the unfolding situation.
The outfit said that the Indian armed forces have killed over 20,000 people in Manipur since the draconian Armed Forces (Special) Powers Act was enforced in the State.
Altogether 1528 cases of extrajudicial killings are pending in the Supreme Court, it said.
With MHA refusing to grant prosecution sanction, the armed forces personnel involved in these extrajudicial killings have been moving freely, the outfit said.
Even as the Indian armed forces have been systematically persecuting and committing all kinds of atrocities upon the people of WESEA since 1949, no Indian leader has ever asked their armed forces to stop the atrocities, it said.
To spearhead the Indian freedom struggle, the Congress Party was set up in 1885 by a Britisher named AO Hume and Britain’s Labour Party pushed for policy decision to free India, and no one called them terrorists.
No one called MK Gandhi a ‘super terrorist’ for supporting the two World Wars. He supported the two World Wars as he had an understanding with the British rulers that India would be given dominion status after the wars and thus the liberation struggles of WESEA should be viewed with the same lens, the outfit asserted.
The UN General Assembly endorses the Right to Self Determination (RSD) as well as National Liberation Movements (NLM), and the international law permits both RSD and NLM, it said. The outfit asserted that elections held in occupied Nations can never be equated to plebiscite conducted under the supervision of UN. It said that the international law recognises belligerency, insurgent administration and NLM. Moreover, foreign powers give recognition to insurgency if it has de facto authority and control over territory.
