IMPHAL, Jun 11 : Archbishop Linus Neli of the Catholic Archdiocese of Imphal has appealed to all communities and individuals to reject violence and work toward peaceful resolutions of the conflicts plaguing Manipur.
In a statement, he said that the lasting solutions to the ongoing conflicts can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect and a steadfast commitment to upholding human rights and dignity.
He extended his solidarity to the victims of the recent tragedies and their families
At this critical moment, the Archbishop urged all to emphasise the importance of pursuing peace, justice and reconciliation.
Promote forgiveness over retaliation and truth-telling and restorative justice over revenge, he said and added that focus should be on healing relationships and restoring dignity.
Saying that no circumstances or justification can legitimise the taking of innocent life, he emphasised that continuous inter-tribal and inter-community dialogue is crucial and may be the only path to resolve the ongoing conflicts among different communities in Manipur.
To be sharers of prosperity, he added that peace must lead to inclusive development.
Sharing equal opportunities will reduce resentment while sharing power and governance with economic justice will strengthen 'our social bond', he said.
