IMPHAL, Jun 11 : Devastated by the loss of their loved ones, the families of the six Naga civilians killed by Kuki groups have urged Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam to arrest Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen.
The six Naga men were Manu Thiumai, Kenpibou, Dilip Thiumai, Phenrilungbou, Kaliwangbou, and Phenrongwibou, all residents of Konsakhul
Speaking to the media at the JNIMS morgue today, they alleged that the Deputy Chief Minister is also complicit, claiming that her husband is the leader of the Kuki militant group responsible for the brutal murder of the six Naga civilians while in captivity.
The Naga victims were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei in Kangpokpi on May 13, and 27 days later, they were found murdered.
The victim families said they had little hope that their family members would be released on the same grounds as the Kuki hostages who were freed.
All their hopes were shattered as the bodies of the abducted Nagas were recovered a day after the Kuki hostages were released.
They questioned how trust could be rebuilt between the residents of Konsakhul and Leilon Vaiphei since people abducted from the latter were killed in the most barbaric manner.
Noting that many other villages lie between the two, the victim families warned that residents of these villages could face a fate similar to that of Konsakhul.
They said they had repeatedly urged the Government to question the residents of Leilon Vaiphei to rescue the abducted persons, but their demand was never acted upon.
Expressing anguish over the Government’s failure to save the victims, they questioned the strength and effectiveness of the administration.
They urged the Government to carry out an operation at Leilon Vaiphei and also arrest Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen.
They also said the mortal remains of the Naga victims must be buried at Leilon Vaiphei.
