65th CC Meet : AIM edge out Juvenile Club 2-1, Utlou FC outlast NEROCA FC 3-0

IMPHAL, Jun 11 : The round off 16 of the Babina Group 65th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament (CC Meet) 2025-26 kicked off with two definitive results as a pair of clinical victories set the benchmark for the knockout stages at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The first pre-quarterfinal delivered a tightly contested 2-1 thriller that hung in the balance until the final whistle, while the other saw a dominant powerhouse suffer a shock exit with an embarrassing 0-3 loss to a rising football club.
In the first pre-quarterfinal, Juvenile Club (Tera) and Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM, Khabam) were evenly poised, playing out a goalless first half. Thiyam Sanathoi finally broke the deadlock in the 68th minute to give the Tera side a well-deserved lead.
AIM, who were equally relentless with their attacks, fought their way back into the game when forward Saikhom Abinash scored the equaliser in the 85th minute. With the match wide open again, both sides pushed hard for a winner. AIM ultimately had the last laugh as Abinash coolly converted a penalty four minutes into stoppage time to fire his team into the quarterfinals.
Later in the second pre-quarterfinal, a brace from Khaidem Amarjit (3’, 72’) and a 26th-minute strike from Laishram Amit helped Utlou FC send NEROCA FC packing 3-0.
IYFC will play Rahee UC in the third pre-quarterfinal match tomorrow from 1 pm before NMFA play USA in the fourth pre-quarterfinal match from 3.30 pm.
