IMPHAL, Jun 12: CPI Manipur State Council has accused BJP of plotting for a civil war in Manipur through its communal politics.
Speaking to media persons at Irabot Bhavan here today, CPI Manipur State Council spokesman RK Amusana described the present situation as a dark chapter in the long history of Manipur.
He remarked that the State has fallen into widespread unrest and complete lawlessness as if there is no Government at all.
The CPI spokesman asked if there is any meaning to having a Government when innocent hostages are murdered in cold blood and their bodies mutilated in the most barbaric manner after almost one month in captivity.
Pointing out that violent clashes and arsons have been going on in different parts of the State without any let up, Amusana went on to ask what kind of report Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the situation of Manipur.
Human rights have no meaning in the present day Manipur. Even though the National Highways remain inaccessible to a large section of the people for over three years, the Central Government has not been paying any attention, Amusana said.
He said that the State Government is as good as a lifeless statue.
The Government is here not to protect citizens but to divide public funds amongst themselves, he said.
Asserting that the Central Government is primarily responsible for the violence and killings seen in Manipur, Amusana said that BJP’s communal politics is leading Manipur to total anarchy and downfall.
Claiming that the Government knows the abductors, he questioned the Government’s failure to arrest them till date.
If the Government is in no position to protect citizens’ life and property, they must step down. The Government must work to solve the crisis without waiting for the people to avenge each other, he added.
