IMPHAL, Jun 12: Poor performance of Manipur universities in India Rankings 2025 under NIRF of the Ministry of Education has irked Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK).
All major institutes in the State, Manipur University (Rank 297), Central Agricultural University (457), National Institute of Technology (549), Manipur Technical University (798) and Manipur University of Culture (879) failed to secure ranks among the top 100, FESOK said in a statement.
The performances of the institutes reflect poor administrative systems, infrastructure and the shortcomings of the institutions and the departments concerned, FESOK said.
Significantly, Manipur University has faced frequent allegations of irregularities, including in recruitments. A senior-most teacher of the university was recently denied the charge of VC-in-Charge, FESOK said.
Further, Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) failing to reach the top 1000, and the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) Takyelpat failing to achieve any significant position as a research institute is very unfortunate, FESOK said.
As reflected by the poor ranks, the institutes in Manipur need improvement in all relevant sectors. The Government, the relevant departments and the authorities of the institutions including the Manipur University must put in sincere and genuine efforts to improve the institutions, FESOK said.
In a positive note, FESOK however noted that the Central Agriculture University has done quite impressively in the Agriculture and Allied Sector by ranking 29 in the category.
