Youth held with nearly 18 Kg heroin

IMPHAL, Jun 13: In a major drug bust that would make other cases pale in comparison, security forces arrested a 28-year-old youth from Sangaiyumpham and seized nearly 18 kilograms of heroin worth crores and Rs 37,500 cash yesterday.
The youth, 28, has been identified as Md Farish Khan of Sangaiyumpham Nungphou Mamang Leikai, under Thoubal police station, Thoubal district.
From his residence, security forces seized a total of 17.913 Kg of heroin.
The police, in a statement, said security forces seized a plastic jar containing 17.9 Kg of heroin, 13.4 grams of heroin powder in two bottles, Rs 37,500 cash and one Honda Activa 6G from his possession.
In a separate operation yesterday, State police arrested one Dil Bahadur Chetry (41), a resident of Tinsukia, Assam, along with 412 grams of WY (Methamphetamine) tablets from North AOC area under Imphal police station, Imphal West.
The drug busts came a day after nine from Pherzawl district were arrested in Mizoram along with 740 grams of heroin.
Earlier, on June 10, four individuals including two cops were held along with 6.1 Kg of WY tablets.
The two cops among the four arrested were identified as Head Constable Md Hafizuddin (42) and Constable Md Zuma Khan (32).
Md Hafizuddin hails from Golapati, and Md Zuma Khan hails from Kshetri Makha Leikai, Imphal East.
The two others arrested were identified as Md Zamir Khan (45) and his wife Samim (36)-- residents of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai.
