IMPHAL, Jun 13 : Project Director of the Mission Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Aribam Ponika, has announced that 1,000 Kg of Chakhao Poireiton will be exported to the United States on a trial basis to promote Manipur’s black rice in the international market.
Today, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Commissioner T Pamei and Director K Devdutta Sharma flagged off 30 MT of organic ginger and 1 MT of aromatic black rice (Chakhao) to Karnataka and New Delhi respectively from the Organic Outlet of the Directorate of Horticulture and Soil Conservation at Sanjenthong.
Addressing the function, she said that transportation assistance for the consignment will be provided by MOMA under the Market Intervention Scheme.
She said that an organic ginger consignment worth over Rs 14 lakh was sold to Al Hakam Ginger & Co, Karnataka by Chakhao Poireiton Organic Producer Company Ltd, while the black rice consignment worth over Rs 1.5 lakh was sold to FOR8, New Delhi, by Luwang Agro Industries, Sawombung.
She added that the exported ginger was procured from Awar Farmer Producer Company Ltd, Kangpokpi.
Ponika added that 1,000 kg of Chakhao Poireiton will be exported to the United States in the coming weeks.
The programme was also attended by Chakhao Poireiton Organic Producer Company Chairman Chongtham Shanta.
