Search Ops for missing student continues

CHURACHANDPUR, Jun 13 (DIO): The Churachandpur district administration today launched a major operation with the assistance of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to locate Lamboikim, a Class VIII student, who was swept away by a strong water current on June 11.
Lamboikim is the daughter of Khupkholun Tuboi of K Khomunnom village, and a Class VIII student at Radhakrishnan Foundation School, Tuibong.
A SDRF team from Imphal led by Team Leader Havildar Riyajuddin arrived at the site on Friday and immediately commenced operations from Zero Point, the location where the victim was last seen being swept away.
The SDRF team has deployed inflatable boats and specialized rescue equipment to intensify the search. Assuring the family and the public of the team’s commitment, Hav Riyajuddin stated, “We will do the needful and continue the search operation till she is found.”
It may be recalled that the tragic incident took place on June 11 at Laijon Veng in Tuibong sub-division, where the young girl was swept away by strong currents following incessant rainfall.
Local youths, clubs, civil society organizations, philanthropic groups and volunteers have been tirelessly engaged in search efforts since the incident. Adverse weather conditions and the absence of adequate rescue infrastructure were hindering search operations.
