IMPHAL, Jun 12: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang has condemned the "brutal and inhuman killing" of six Zeliangrong Naga men, abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13.
"This horrific act has caused immense grief and pain not only to the bereaved families but also to the entire Zeliangrong community and the Naga people. We mourn not only the loss of six precious lives but also the assault on our common humanity," Zeliang said in a statement.
No cause, grievance, ideology, or conflict can ever justify the way these men were killed, he said.
"Rather than reciprocating the goodwill of the Nagas in releasing the 14 Kuki hostages, it was met with animalistic savagery which is beyond any reasonable or logical explanation... Regardless of ethnicity, religion, or community, every human life is sacred and deserving of respect," Zeliang said. Calling for a thorough and impartial investigation to arrest and punish the perpetrators, Zeliang expressed condolences to the bereaved families and Zeliangrong community at large.
