IMPHAL, Jun 13 : The Rastrahit Sarvopari Sangathan (RSS) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging immediate action over the hostage crisis and the subsequent killing of six Naga civilians by Kuki groups.
The letter also highlighted security lapses and called for measures to restore peace and the rule of law in the State.
In its communication, the RSS stated that the abduction of innocent civilians, their use as instruments of coercion, and the subsequent killing of Naga hostages constitute a grave challenge to the rule of law, Constitutional governance, and basic human values.
Asserting that such acts cannot be justified under any political, ethnic, territorial, or ideological circumstances, the Organisation questioned why all hostages were not rescued despite early warnings and repeated appeals.
It further asked whether adequate intelligence, coordination, and operational measures were deployed to secure their release, or whether there were gaps in communication, planning, or response mechanisms among various agencies.
The Organisation also sought clarification on which armed groups, extremist elements, or criminal networks were responsible for the abduction and what measures are being taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
Saying that the lives of innocent citizens must never become casualties of political dispute, ethnic rivalries or militant ambitions, the RSS urged the Prime Minister to constitute a High Level Judicial Inquiry Commission to investigate the entire hostage crisis and review the response of administrative, intelligence and security agencies and determine accountability wherever deficiencies are found.
It also urged the Prime Minister to launch a comprehensive operation against armed extremist groups, illegal weapon networks, extortion syndicate and criminal elements operating in the region and strengthen border and internal security mechanisms.
Moreover, the RSS urged the Prime Minister to provide adequate compensation, protection and rehabilitation assistance to affected families, ensure uninterrupted movement on National Highways and protection of essential supply routes, establish a structured peace dialogue under the supervision of the Government of India, monitor and take legal action against individuals or groups spreading violence, hatred, misinformation or propaganda that may aggravate tensions and formulate a long term peace, reconciliation and rehabilitation framework for Manipur.
