IMPHAL, Jun 15 : Haoreibi Apunba Lup (HAL) has strongly condemned the brutal killing of six abducted Liangmai tribe civilians, urging the Central and State Governments to act decisively against the perpetrators.
The civilians were abducted during violence on May 13, 2026.
Despite civil society appeals, rescue efforts failed. While 14 Kuki hostages were released unharmed after nearly a month, the six Naga civilians were found dead, mutilated with signs of extreme torture.
HAL termed it a grave humanitarian tragedy and a violation of human dignity.
HAL questioned law enforcement and intelligence lapses, demanding identification of armed groups involved.
The perpetrators of the crime must be arrested and punished, it said.
It also sought probes into recurring Kuki-Meitei, Kuki-Liangmei, Kuki-Tangkhul, and other communal clashes, stressing urgent measures to restore peace, stability, and public trust.
