Polling station rationalisation meetings conducted

IMPHAL, Jun 15 : District-level meetings on rationalisation of polling stations were held today in Imphal East and Imphal West as part of Phase-III of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026.
In Imphal East, Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, District Election Officer, chaired a meeting attended by EROs, AEROs, ZEO officials, and political party representatives.
Proposals for amalgamation, name changes, shifting, and bifurcation of polling stations in 1-Khundrakpam, 2-Heingang, 3-Khurai, 4-Kshetrigao, 6-Keirao, and 7-Andro ACs received unanimous consent and were sent to the ECI for approval. In Imphal West, a similar meeting was held at the DC Office Complex, chaired by the District Election Officer M Rajkumar. EROs presented draft lists per ECI’s May 14 and June 24 directives. Guidelines mandate completion by June 28, with no polling station exceeding 1,200 electors and no jurisdictional overlap. Political parties gave suggestions, reaching broad consensus. The DEO sought cooperation for timely SIR implementation.
