Five remanded

IMPHAL, Jun 15 : The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate has remanded five accused persons to judicial custody for 15 days in connection with the killing of Kshetrimayum Devjit, son of Jugindro of Singjamei Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai.
The case was on after Ksh Deepak lodged a complaint at Singjamei Police Station stating that his younger brother Ksh Devjit had gone for a morning walk with his two dogs at around 8 am on June 10.
However, he returned home at about 8:45 am with a serious stab wound on the left side of his lower abdomen and later succumbed to his injuries.
Four accused persons viz Salam Saran (60), son of (L) Nimaichand; his son Salam Boy (43); Salam Gojen alias Taton (65), son of (L) Nimaichand; and Salam Hudson (23), son of Boy, all residents of Singjamei Chingamakha were arrested shortly after the incident.
Another accused, Salam Premila, daughter of (L) Nimaichand, surrendered before Singjamei Police on June 13 and was subsequently arrested.
Police stated that Premila is also a prime suspect in the case.
According to the complainant, the victim had a confrontation with the accused persons while passing near the Nambul Mapal Community Hall at Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai during his morning walk.
During investigation, police stated that Salam Gojen called his family members to assist him, and the confrontation escalated into violence, resulting in Devjit’s death.
Police have also added Section 103(2) of BNS, noting that the act was committed by five or more persons.
All five accused have been remanded to judicial custody till June 29, 2026.
