CCpur, Jun 15: Assam Rifles organised a grand felicitation programme at its headquarters in Churachandpur district on Monday to honour two local bravehearts conferred with the prestigious Shaurya Chakra.
Subedar P H Moses of 1 Assam Rifles and Havildar Manglemsang Vaiphei of 3 Assam Rifles, both hailing from Churachandpur, were celebrated for displaying exceptional courage and exemplary professionalism during high-risk counter-insurgency operations.
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), the event was attended by 250 personnel including senior officials, to honour the gallantry award winners and draw inspiration from their extraordinary feats.
The event seamlessly captured the operational brilliance of both heroes. During a special mission on May 14, 2025, Subedar Moses, acting as the Second-in-Command of a special mission patrol, displayed outstanding gallantry and tactical brilliance as he crawled under intense unprovoked fire to neutralise a hostile cadre at a dominating height, effectively securing his patrol column.
Displaying matching grit on June 9, 2025 near the Indo-Myanmar border, Havildar Vaiphei acted as a lead scout and fearlessly held his ground during a heavy firefight, single-handedly eliminating two armed cadres and injuring a third. During an interactive session, the awardees shared these gripping battlefield experiences, highlighting the critical importance of teamwork, tactical composure and leadership under pressure.
