Thang-Ta training concludes

IMPHAL, Jun 15 : A 45-day ‘Thang-Ta Sarit Sarak’ training organised by Maipak Memorial Kala Sangam successfully concluded yesterday at Uchol Playground, Imphal East.
JNMDA Director P Bilash, attending as chief guest, said Thang-Ta has been a vital martial art of Manipur since ancient times and its movements are integral to Meitei Jagoi.
He stressed that learning Sarit Sarak aids self-defence and must be mastered by all men and women of the land.
Bilash added that Thang-Ta performances worldwide draw admiration and are now taught in schools.
He urged trainees to continue practice for excellence.
Col Ajit Singh Negi, Commanding Officer, 7th Madras Regiment, Indian Army, Andro, presided, while Andro Municipal Council Ward 12 Councillor L Jeevan was guest of honour. Various Thang-Ta forms were demonstrated on the closing day.
