IMPHAL, Jun 15: Amid fresh reports of clashes and after the killing of six Naga hostages, CPI Manipur State Council has reiterated its demand for dissolution of the State Assembly.
Even after more than three years, the BJP-led Government has failed to curb violence and bring about a solution to the Manipur crisis. The Government which has failed to protect the lives of its citizens should take responsibility and the MLAs must tender their resignations on moral ground, said RK Amusana, spokesperson of the CPI Manipur State Council.
Speaking at a press meet held at Khurai Sajor Leikai, RK Amusana said the State Assembly must be dissolved and a fresh election to elect a new Government must be held.
He said the CPI strongly condemns the killing of the six Naga men who were taken hostage on May 13.
Accusing the Government of India of executing a proxy war, Amusana said it was the failure of the State Government and the Central Government that couldn't save their lives and secure their safe release.
Under the BJP-led Government, people have been divided on communal lines and the value of democracy has eroded, he said.
There is no rule of law in the State for the Government has so far failed to arrest and punish the perpetrators who have killed innocent civilians, he added.
The press meet came a day after CPI Khurai Local Council took a decision to field the spokesperson as a candidate for 2027 State Assembly elections from Khurai AC.
