Three arrested

IMPHAL, Jun 17: Customs officials arrested three individuals, including a woman, along with 2.016 kg of heroin yesterday.
According to officials, the seized narcotic, suspected to be of foreign origin, is worth around Rs 4 crore.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Laishram Bhumeshwor (42), son of L Achouba of Tingri Mayai Leikai, Sekmai; Wairokpam Jiten (38), son of W Mohon Meitei of Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai and Hema Pradhan, daughter of Chhabilal Pradhan of Kanglatongbi.
Officials stated that the trio was initially detained along North AOC Road near the PCTC oil pump.
They were later taken to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Customs at Sangakpham, Imphal, as heavy traffic was building up at the detention spot and arrested them.
The accused were produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal, today and the Court remanded them to judicial custody till July 1, 2026.
