IMPHAL, Jun 17: The North East India Christian  Council (NEICC) has called upon the concerned authorities to act without delay in delivering justice to the six hostages who were killed recently in Kangpokpi district, Manipur.
The six men who were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13   were found dead with their bodies mutilated beyond recognition on June 10, after a prolonged period of uncertainty and anguish.
At a time when communities across Manipur continue to experience pain, fear and uncertainty, this tragedy has added yet another layer of grief to an already wounded society, said a press release issued by NEICC.
Unequivocally condemning all forms of violence, abduction, torture and killing, the NEICC said that no grievance, difference or conflict can justify the taking of human life.
The council has also extended condolences to the bereaved families, relatives, churches and communities who mourn the loss of their loved ones.
Notably, Christian ministers were among the victims who were tortured to death and their bodies butchered.
The NEICC has also appealed to all communities and leaders to reject hatred, refrain from retaliation and prevent any further violence.
It said that lasting peace cannot be achieved through vengeance but through justice, dialogue, reconciliation and restoration of trust.
