NSCN-IM declares PR in WTR

DIMAPUR, Jun 17: The NSCN-IM has imposed "President's Rule" in the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR).
The 'President's Rule' has been imposed with immediate effect, under the Article 3 of the Yehzabo (Constitution) by the Yaruiwo (Chairman), said the NSCN-IM, in its order issued yesterday.
"This decisive measure follows a comprehensive areview by the National Security Council of the People's Republic of Nagalim regarding the prevailing situation in the region. The Council concluded that the current breakdown of stability has rendered normal regional administration unfeasible at present," it added.
To ensure effective governance and public order during this period, a team of "provisional authorities" has been constituted to discharge all responsibilities of the regional administration, the NSCN-IM said, adding, "Veteran leader Maj Gen (Retd) Ramkathing Varah, MM, MC (Member of Collective Leadership), has been appointed as the Convener of the Provisional Authorities".
Consequently, all administrative responsibilities previously authorized to the Kilo Ministry (Home Ministry of the NSCN-IM) stand officially transferred to the newly constituted provisional administration team with immediate effect, the NSCN-IM said.
The arrangement shall remain strictly in force until normalcy is fully restored in the Wung Tangkhul Region, it added.
The NSCN-IM also called upon all regional officials, civil society organizations, and citizens to extend their full cooperation to the "provisional administration" team to ensure peace and stability.
