Manipuri Sahitya Samiti Thoubal announces biennial literary award winners

THOUBAL, Jun 17: The Manipuri Sahitya Samiti, Thoubal, has announced the recipients of its prestigious biennial literary awards, which recognise outstanding contributions to Manipuri literature in various genres.
According to the Samiti, the Ningombam Ongbi Pramodini Ningsing Sahitya Mana will be presented to Kirtichand Luwang for his poetry collection “Waotharaba Machu”, while the Akoijam Chaoton Rajkumari Muktasana Ningsing Sahitya Award will be given to Sudhiranjan Moirangthem for his short story “Amuktang Laklabadi.”
Dr Thokchom Ibohanbi Singh will receive the Akoijam Bijoy Ningsing Sahitya Mana for his translation work “Mother Teresa”, while Laishram Matum Singh will be honoured with the Akoijam Binodini Ningsing Sahitya Mana for his novel “Mingou Khanglakpada Bhanumukhi.”
The Kabi Leitanthem Ramsingh Ningsing Sahitya Mana will be awarded to Achouba Yumnam for his drama “Uchek Langmei”. Naorem Lokeshwor Singh will receive the Thiyam Ongbi Takhellambam Ningol Ibechaobi Ningsing Sahitya Mana for his children’s literature work “Machathoi amasung Laichanura.”
The Akoijam Ongbi Shija Ningsing Sahitya Mana will be presented to Longjam Joychandra for his prose work “Sanarei Nachom.” The Akoijam Ongbi Shyama Ningsing Sahitya Mana, instituted for writers below 40 years of age, will go to Laishram Malemnganba Meitei for his book “Sukla Mamlaba Thanil.”
The Akoijam Bhubon Singh Ningsing Sahitya Mana will be conferred on Ekendro Tensubam for his song “Nungsit Sittana Unase Lengle.” Lanchenba Meitei will receive the Akoijam Ibecha Devi Ningsing Mana for his Manipuri Nat “Meitei Thouramlon Ariba.”
The Akoijam Lilabati Devi Ningsing Mana, a lifetime achievement award for writers above 70 years of age, will be presented to Kshetrimayum Bir Singh.
The Manipuri Sahitya Samiti, Thoubal, stated that the awards will be presented at a formal function to be organised by the Samiti soon.
