IMPHAL, Jun 2: Lok Sabha MP Dr Bimol Akoijam visited Lamlai Assembly Constituency and inspected various institutions including the Lamlai Primary Health centre and Lamlai Keithel yesterday.
During the inspection, Dr Bimol was accompanied by Lamlai Block Congress Committee president Ningthoujam Somendro and Achoibam Deben, Congress candidate who contested the last Assembly elections from the Constituency.
Dr Bimol and the team inspected road connectivity, Lamlai Primary Health Centre, Lamlai Keithel, Lamlai playground and Salam Pat.
At the Lamlai Primary Health Centre, the MP found the centre in poor condition and lacking required infrastructure.
He found the roof of the doctors' and nurses' quarters leaking, and a dental machine needing repair or replacement.
He found the fencing damaged, and the approach road to the PHC in a dilapidated condition.
Disturbed by his findings, Dr Bimol called Imphal East Deputy Commissioner Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam over the phone and sought her attention to repair the approach road under a suitable programme and look into the requirements of the PHC.
Later, Dr Bimol inspected the sites for construction of a Rest House at the Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) Headquarters at Chingnungkhok and a gallery at Salam Pat Hiyang venue.
He also visited the Lamlai Keithel and interacted with women vendors. The women vendors sought his assistance to repair and revamp the market shed. Dr Bimol assured all possible assistance from his side, and expressed, in anticipation, that the local MLA would look into the needs of the women vendors.
