IMPHAL, Jun 2 : Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is helping people addicted to intoxicants recover free of cost through mutual support and shared experiences, members of the Public Relations Sub-Committee of IASC of NA said today.
Speaking to reporters at the IASC of NA office at Sagolband Ingudam Leirak, members clarified that NA is not a profit-making body and is not affiliated with any organisation.
Anyone wishing to quit drugs- irrespective of caste, religion, gender, or age- can join. No fees are charged and identities are kept confidential.
NA follows a 12-step and 12-tradition programme. Daily meetings are held where recovered members share experiences and encourage others.
“One addict helping another is key to recovery”, members said.
While NA does not accept financial aid from groups or individuals, it welcomes cooperation from Government, medical bodies, religious groups, voluntary organisations, and the media.
Meetings are often hosted in schools, Churches, clubs, and community halls.
Those seeking help can contact the IASC of NA helpline at 9366120877.
