FCI extends financial assist

IMPHAL, Jun 2: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has extended a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the family of Nitish Kumar who was killed in an ambush near TM Kasom on May 29, and provided Rs 15,000 to the Manipur Police Constable injured in the attack.
The financial aid was extended after a high-level delegation from FCI's North-East Zonal Office, Guwahati, led by DP Shukla, Executive Director (NE) met Manipur Chief Secretary and extended the ex-gratia assistance for the bereaved family.
While senior officials extended the Rs 1 lakh aid, contributed by FCI Manipur, to family of Nitish Kumar, Rs 15,000 was handed over to the injured police personnel at JNIMS Hospital by K Sathya Kumar, DGM(R), Adani Mao, DM Imphal and Malsnam Rupam Singh, AGM(Co-ordn),said FCI, Divisional Office Imphal in a statement.
"FCI remains committed to ensuring a seamless supply of foodgrains across Manipur while prioritizing the safety and welfare of all associated with this vital National responsibility," it said.
