NCST registers complaint

IMPHAL, Jun 2: The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has registered a complaint filed by one Asem Roshan Singh of Mayang Imphal Thana Wangkhei Leikai regarding the reported abduction and hostage-taking of Naga tribal civilians.
The complaint was submitted before the commission seeking intervention under Article 338A of the Constitution of India concerning reports of abduction, unlawful detention and hostage-taking of innocent Naga civilians amid the ongoing conflict situation in Manipur.
In his petition, Asem Roshan urged the NCST to take cognizance of the matter, conduct an independent enquiry, ascertain the status and safety of the affected persons, recommend appropriate legal action against those responsible, and ensure protection of vulnerable tribal communities.
