Imphal, Jun 2 : The Special Judge, POCSO, Imphal West, yesterday remanded a 21-year-old youth to six days of police custody for allegedly sexually exploiting a minor girl over a period of more than six months.
Accused Laishram Dalex alias Grayson (21), son of Mukta of Lilong Chajing Awang Leikai, was produced before the Court by a team of Wangoi Police Station, which requested custody remand to ensure smooth investigation of the case.
What the SPP says
The Special Public Prosecutor (PP) for the State informed the Court that on May 31, the mother of the victim lodged a complaint at Wangoi Police Station, stating that the accused had been harassing her minor daughter.
According to the victim’s statement, the accused had established a physical relationship with her and recorded a video of the act.
It was further alleged that the accused repeatedly pressured the minor to meet him and threatened to circulate the video.
The incidents took place last year at the accused’s farmhouse at Narankonjin and at a hotel at MG Avenue.
The prosecution submitted that the accused’s conduct caused the minor severe fear and mental distress, posing a serious threat to her safety and well-being.
During examination, the minor stated that she had been sexually assaulted by the accused several times from 2025 to 2026 at different locations.
She further alleged that the accused recorded videos of the assaults on his phone and later threatened to make them public.
In preliminary interrogation, the accused admitted the charges against him.
After hearing the submissions of the Special PP and reviewing the case records, the Court remanded the accused to police custody till June 6.
