The tobacco plant is obtained by the drying of the leaves of the Nicotina plant which consists of a number of harmful chemical particles. The nicotine in the plant discharges various toxic chemicals which harmfully affect the human nervous system. One of the dangerous gases emitted when the tobacco plant is burnt is that of carbon monoxide, which prevents oxygen transfer in the body. In addition, it also emits various other harmful elements like arsenic, tar, ammonia, etc. and acts as poison for human beings and damages lungs and other body organs. The flavor and manner of advertising of tobacco plant entices the minds of youngsters leading to their usage.
Tobacco not only causes harm to humans, but also to the environment including soil, water, air, and farming land. Pesticides and fertilizers have been excessively applied in farming the tobacco plant, and because of this, the quality of soil becomes poor causing important elements of the soil to be washed away. Apart from this, pollution of the environment because of tobacco causes several diseases. (To be contd)
