IMPHAL, Jun 19 : Coming down heavily on the Government for its silence and failure to pull up a single person for the barbaric murder and butchering of six Naga civilians, Congress MP Dr Bimol Akoijam has asked if the State Government was complicit in the gruesome murder.
The Lok Sabha Member today visited the three women who were among 11 women taken hostage and freed later by Kuki militants, and admitted to JNIMS Hospital yesterday.
Taking strong exception to the Government’s failure to arrest even a single person involved in the gruesome murder, Dr Bimol Akoijam asked whether it is because the State Government was complicit in the barbaric murder.
Contrary to the people’s hope for a solution to the violent crisis which erupted on May 3, 2023, the crisis is growing bigger in the hill areas.
The Government, instead of working sincerely to contain the violence, seems to be scheming to expand and aggravate the crisis. This is rather unfortunate and unacceptable, Dr Bimol remarked.
Asking if the Government has taken up any concrete step to arrest those people involved in the abduction and barbaric murder of the six Liangmai Naga men, the Congress MP pointed out that it is the Government’s responsibility  to arrest the murderers.
He also questioned the reasons for the Government shying away from its responsibility.
“As a representative of the people of Manipur, I will continue to voice the people’s grievances until the State Government delivers justice,” the Lok Sabha Member said.
He said that he will raise the issue of the gruesome murder of six Liangmai Nagas in the Parliament and fight for justice at his best level.
The enquiry committee instituted by the Central Government to probe the Manipur violence was asked to submit a report within six months but the State Government has sought six more months, he said before asking who the State Government is trying to protect.
