A similar event held at the National level at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was webcast at NIELIT campus. Speaking at the gathering, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said that PMVBRY is one of the many schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a vision to realize a Vikshit Bharat (developed India) by 2047. This ambitious scheme was launched on August 1, 2025 with a conviction to strengthen the country’s workforce, create more jobs in the formal sector, enhance social security coverage and raise employability in private sectors.
One notable feature of this scheme is the special attention given to youth who get employment for the first time and promotion of employees, Ajay Kumar Bhalla said.
He said that this scheme will help in bolstering the country’s overall development.
Many employees and employers have been registered under the same scheme in Manipur too. The incentives distributed today are not merely about extending financial assistance. It is also about investment in human potential, enterprise and the future of youth, the Governor stated. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand said that around 70,000 people have been registered for the same scheme in Tripura whose population size is similar to that of Manipur whereas only 20,000 have been registered in Manipur.
Assuring that the Government will provide necessary assistance, he appealed to all eligible individuals to get registered under PMVBRY.
The Chief Minister stated that the Jiribam-Imphal railway line will reach Imphal from Khongsang within two years under the Act East Policy. Stating that there can be no development in Manipur until and unless there is peace and stability, Khemchand appealed to all sections of people to give up the path of violence and confrontation and choose dialogue to bring an end to the protracted crisis.
