State Wrestling Championship 2026 underway

IMPHAL, Jun 20 : The State Wrestling Championship organised by Manipur Wrestling Association kicked off today at SAI STC Khuman Lampak.
The opening day saw K Nungsithoi of NSA seal the -41 kg Greco Roman title for the U-15 Boys’ beating L Mangal of Thoubal. Thoubal’s Senjam Yaikhomba, meanwhile bagged the -44 kg category gold by defeating NSA’s Moirangthem Thomsan before Maibam Kingson won the -52 kg category title by beating Laishram Pari in an all Thoubal final.
The -57 kg category title on the other hand went to L Deal Singh who beat Th Kingson in an all NSA final.
Freestyle
The day also saw AK Hillgold of NSA beat Thoubal’s S Deninson for the-38 kg freestyle gold for U-15 boys as Thoubal’s W Nongpoknganba beat Joyson Singh of NSA for the -48 kg category title.
Tomthinnganba of Thoubal also extended the medal haul for the unit by beating T Nabinson of NSA in the final.
SAI’s Biken Pebam, meanwhile bagged the -62 kg category title by defeating Okram Deban of Thoubal as S Taibangnganba beat Th Lanchenba for the -75 kg title in an all SAI final.
P Romio of SAI claimed the senior men’s -65 kg freestyle title as he got the better of Ahamed Ali of RCC in the final today.
Arambam Thoithoi of SAI on the other hand emerged as the -50 kg category freestyle winner in the U-15 girls’ section by defeating Yambem Sanathoi of NSA in the final as Moirangthem Nanao of NSA beat S Alonya of RCC for the -54 kg category title.
Maibam Dina of SAI in the meantime beat compatriot Khaidem Artina for the -62 kg category title.
