IMPHAL, Jun 20: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has urged the Government of India to abrogate the ceasefire agreements signed with NSCN-IM and its proxies.
Expressing grave concern over the rapidly deteriorating relations between the Kuki-Zo and Naga communities, KIM submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi on June 19, 2026.
So far, 11 kuki villages have been ravaged while 14 Kuki civilians have lost their lives in repeated attacks, said the memorandum.
“If the demands of the United Naga Council (UNC) are fulfilled without justice for the victims, the Government will be seen as favouring the UNC’s position while disregarding the suffering of the Kuki-Zo people”, it said.
KIM has also placed a charter of demands before the Prime Minister which include abrogation of the ceasefire agreement with NSCN-IM.
It alleged that NSCN-IM is involved, directly or indirectly, in violence, intimidation, attacks and activities that threaten the lives and security of Kuki and Zo people.
KIM is also demanding justice in the alleged fake encounter killing of one Lenminsang of Kolchung village at Songkong village, Henglep subdivision on June 16 as well as for the 14 Kuki people killed so far in the continuing violence.
Investigation into the burning and ravaging of 11 Kuki villages, immediate security deployment in vulnerable Kuki and Zo villages, time-bound report on Government investigations and expedited political settlement for the Kuki and Zo people are some other demands raised by KIM.
